Burwell is one of the larger Cambridgeshire fen-edge villages, and its mix of older cottages, 20th-century infill and modern closes makes it typical of the kind of community where air source heat pumps can serve very different property types on the same street.
The older parts of the village along North Street and around the church include a number of traditional brick and clunch cottages that need careful assessment before a heat pump is specified - solid wall construction requires higher flow temperatures or a larger emitter area to work efficiently. Newer homes on the residential closes built from the 1980s onwards are generally easier to retrofit. Air source heat pumps in Burwell are particularly relevant for households off the mains gas supply, which is not universal across the village.
Burwell sits close to Newmarket to the north and Swaffham Prior and Reach to the west, and we cover all of these communities as part of our regular working area. A free site visit is always our starting point - we will tell you honestly whether a heat pump is the right choice for your specific property before any work is discussed.
